Flying Dinosaurs?  Sorry but not really... instead they were flying reptiles.  Huge creatures that took to the sky.  Flying Reptiles are known as Pterosaurs (or 'winged lizards') and were a relative of the dinosaur.  Unlike birds, they had wings made of skin and muscle which stretched from an enormously long fourth finger to their ankles.  They were the first animals to fly apart from insects.

Pteranodons were much bigger than Pterodactyls, and stood about 6 feet high with a wingspan between 25-33 feet.   They had large brains and good eyesight.  Pteranodons had hard heads with long, light-weight, bony crests that may have been used to help them steer or stabilize when flying.  Although they had no teeth, Pteranodons were carnivores.  They ate fish, crabs, and insects.  Pteranodons lived during the late Cretaceous period about 85-75 million years ago

Pterodactyl is not technically a dinosaur. Although they lived during the same time as dinosaurs, they are classified as winged reptiles.   Pterodactyl is a group that includes winged reptiles with teeth, while Pteranodon is a group that includes winged reptiles without teeth.  They lived during the Jurassic period around 145 million years ago.   Pterodactyls had approximately 90 teeth, and fish was among its favorite prey.
